Background of CWDS

Community Welfare and Development Society (CWDS) is a non-profit making non-government organization (NGO) registered under Social Service Act with District Administration Office, Kathmandu and affiliated with Social Welfare Council (SWC), Nepal. CWDS was established in 1990 with a view to participate in enhancing the quality of citizen's participation through general awareness, literacy, health & sanitation, income generation, environment and people's empowerment. The successful experiments on Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development (SARD) initiated by several agencies around the globe has helped CWDS to cristallize the vision, mission, framework and strategy of its development work. CWDS firmly believes that an integrated action to promote simultaneous development of education, employment, health & sanitation, environment and citizen's participation is vital for the total development of the country. Based on the above-said ideals and framework, CWDS is being strengthened by the people who have professional expertize in the fields of agriculture, livestock/veterinary services, agro-forestry, education, health, rural development and management.
